| Macaw palm (Acrocomia aculeata (Jacq.) Lodd. ex Mart.) is a tropical species with multiple uses, including oil supply for biodiesel production. However, structural and physiological studies of the seed are still scarce, as well as in vitro propagation techniques. The aim of this study was to characterize the anatomy, histochemistry and ultrastructure of the seed and the in vitro somatic embryo of A. aculeata, gaining insight into relationships between the post-harvest seed behavior and the somatic embryo conversion to plant. | The purpose of this research was to study the genetic diversity and genetic relatedness of 60 genotypes of grapevines derived from the Germplasm Bank of Embrapa Semiárido, Juazeiro, BA, Brazil. Seven previously characterized microsatellite markers were used: VVS2, VVMD5, VVMD7, VVMD27, VVMD3, ssrVrZAG79 and ssrVrZAG62. The expected heterozygosity (He) and polymorphic information content (PIC) were calculated, and the cluster analysis were processed to generate a dendrogram using the algorithm UPGMA. The He ranged from 81.8% to 88.1%, with a mean of 84.8%. | A micropropagação de bananeira (Musa spp.) via ápices caulinares já está bem estabelecida para diversas cultivares. Entretanto, podem ser feitos aperfeiçoamentos nos protocolos visando a obtenção de mudas mais vigorosas. Objetivou-se, neste trabalho, verificar a adição de nitrogênio na forma de uréia em diferentes concentrações (0, 100, 200, 400 e 800 mg L-1), no alongamento e enraizamento de brotos das cultivares Grande Naine, Prata Anã, Maçã e Nanicão. Houve efeito positivo da uréia no crescimento dos explantes, na produção de raízes e de massa seca para a cultivar Maçã, até 200 mg L-1 de uréia. Lodd. ex Mart.] is currently in transition, from extractivism to agricultural cultivation, thus requiring studies on the fertilization of the crop. | ABSTRACT Reserve mobilization in seeds occurs after visible germination, which is marked by the protrusion of the radicle or cotyledonary petiole, as in species of Arecaceae. Acrocomia aculeata (macaw palm), usually produces hard seeds whose endosperm has mannan-rich cell walls. We investigated the composition of storage compounds in macaw palm seed and the roles of two enzymes (endo-β-mannanase, α-galactosidase) during and after germination. | The biotechnological techniques may help solve many problems of guava culture, such as the high perishability of fruits. Somatic embryogenesis can generate highly multiplicative cell cultures and with high regenerative potential, serving as basis for genetic transformation. The aim of this work was to obtain somatic embryogenesis of guava (Psidium guajava L.) cv. Paluma. | A qualidade da uva pode responder ao manejo da irrigação e ao ajuste da adubação nitrogenada. Assim, este trabalho teve como objetivo estudar o efeito do manejo de irrigação e doses de nitrogênio sobre a qualidade da uva 'Niagara Rosada' no município de Colatina-ES. Foram avaliadas três doses de nitrogênio, aplicadas via fertirrigação: 35, 70 e 140g planta-1 e quatro estratégias de manejo de irrigação. No início do experimento até a fase de maturação das bagas, todos os tratamentos receberam a mesma lâmina de irrigação, elevando-se a umidade do solo à capacidade de campo (M1=100%). No entanto, não há relatos do desenvolvimento de protocolos completos de embriogênese somática, com produção de plantas de alface.
